Puppy Sweater

I haven't finished a project because I've taken on knitting doggie sweaters for my two boys.  I started with this pattern/formula.  I am almost finished knitting the very simple sweater I came up with using the formula without modification.  It, however, is slightly too large, and I have seen some modifications/improvements I can make.  Once I rework the pattern, I should have something that will fit my boys perfectly including getting rid of the "pee droop" (the part that always hangs down from the belly so that they pee on it).

I'll post pictures and notes on the original sweater in a few days when it is finished.  Then look forward to my improved pattern in the next few weeks/months.

Granny Slippers

PATTERN
Pattern:  Aunt Maggie's Slippers/Simple Knitted Rose and Leaf
Pattern Designer:  Beverly A. Qualheim/Sarah M. Hughes
Pattern Review:  Easy to follow.  Makes the standard granny slipper.  The rose was likewise easy to follow but did not really work out to a rose shape for me.

YARN
Brand:  Lion Brand
Type:  Vanna's Choice Print
Colorway:  Purple Mist
Actual Color:  Purple and White
Yarn Review:  As far as acrylics go, this one isn't bad.  It's not the softest acrylic but also not the harshest I've ever felt.  I'd use it again for a project like this.  The roses were made with an unknown white acrylic.

PROJECT
Needles:  Size 6 Knit Picks
Completed:  March 20, 2010
Completion Time:  2 weekends
Project Review:  If it hadn't been for a great friend asking for these I wouldn't have knit them.  They go quick but seemed to take me forever because I didn't enjoy working on them.  The roses did not look like a rose to me but still made a nice embellishment.  The pattern is very difficult to work on the last two increase rows.

Sparkly Army Gloves

PATTERN
Pattern:  Class A Gloves (army)
Pattern Designer:  The Lady Wyvern
Where to find it:  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/class-a-gloves-army
Pattern Review:  There's not much to this pattern.  It is a very basic glove pattern, but that was a good place to start.

YARN
Brand:  Cherry Tree Hill
Type:  Super Glitz (discontinued)
Colorway:  Martha's Vineyard
Actual Color:  mostly blues, greens, and purples
Yarn Review:  This yarn is great to look at with the added sparkle.  However, it's not soft at all, but somehow that seemed fitting for an army glove pattern.

PROJECT
Needles:  Size 4 using magic loop
Gauge:  9 rows - 7 stitches = 1" in stockinette
Completed:  February 27, 2010
Completion Time:  13 days
Project Review:  This was my Ravelympics project.  I really enjoyed making gloves.  This was my first pair but certainly won't be my last.  I can't wait to cast on another pair and make them fit even better.  These were a little tight and I figured out what modifications would make gloves better fit my hands.

Helena for Princess Maya

PATTERN
Pattern:  Helena
Pattern Designer:  Alison Green Will
Pattern Review:  This is a very easy pattern.  It is well written and easy to follow.  I left off the ties in the front, and added a small pewter clasp.  Additionally, in order to keep the picot hem from being too bulky I split my 4 ply yarn into two 2 ply strands and used the 2 ply strands to sew up the hem.  If I were to knit this again I would use a size 3 needle to do the front edge and collar.  Size 2 was a little tight and it pulls on the fabric.

YARN
Brand:  Knit Picks
Type Comfy Sport
Fiber Content:  75% Pima Cotton, 25% Acrylic
Colorway:  Lilac Mist
Actual Color:  pale purple
Yarn Review:  This is my third project with some weight of Comfy.  I am addicted to it.  It is extremely soft and great for baby or adult clothing.  I will use it again and again and again.

PROJECT
Needles:  Size 6 - body, Size 2 - trims
Gauge:
Completed:  February 5, 2010
Completion Time:  Approximately 18 days.
Project Review:  This was a great, fairly quick project.  I enjoyed working on it and I can't wait to give it to the intended recipient.  I would recommend this project and may make it again if someone has a baby.  My only complaint is the very sore finger I got from the pointy #2 needles.

Drop Stitch Scarf

PATTERN
Pattern:  Drop Stitch Scarf
Pattern Designer:  Christine Vogel
Pattern Review:  This pattern was very easy to follow and a lot of fun to knit.  I completed the project in 5 days.  I can't wait to start knitting another!

YARN
Brand:  Moda Dea
Type:  Washable Wool
Colorway:  Ivory
Yarn Review:  I am very sad to hear this yarn has been discontinued.  It is a nice, soft, affordable yarn that I have used for several projects.  I stocked up when I heard it was discontinued.

PROJECT
Completed:  December 22, 2009 - Just in time for Christmas!!
Completion Time:  5 days from start to finish
Project Review:  I loved this project!  It was super easy, but looks amazing once it is blocked.  I blocked it about as much as possible to really open the pattern up.  I will do another scarf in this pattern.
